Apparently two days ago (November 3, 2021), a bill (the “Employment Freedom for All Act”) was introduced in the House by U.S. Congresswoman Claudia Tenney to “void existing non-compete agreements for any employee who is fired for not complying with an employer’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate, and for other purposes.”
The text of the bill is not available, but it seems fairly self-explanatory, and, from what’s available online, it seems that the bill would make the FTC responsible for promulgating the regulations.
Nothing like using companies, their employees, and the economy as pawns in a separate political battle over a public health issue.
The bill has been referred to the Committee on Education and Labor and the Committee on Energy and Commerce.
We’ll keep you posted.
